Benjamin Shine’s collaboration with the Canberra Centre has seen the installation of this exquisite series, titled The Dance, in the side atrium above the Lincraft entry. With the feminine associations of tulle, its soft, temporary nature and the shadowy expression of face and movement, the series has an ephemeral presence in the space. A closer inspection invites an appreciation of the vision of the artist- the medium has an accessibility that belies the skill in Shine’s works. Using over 2000 metres of tulle sewn, wrapped and ironed into place, The Dance is an impressive series, bringing art into public spaces and inspiration new generations.
