It’s February again, and that means it’s poetry month! Huzzah!
For new blog followers and/or writing month newbs, I participate in an annual month-long challenge to help get my creative self into gear for the new year. This is my third year (yay!) of challenges. Click here to see my 2014 and 2015 challenges!
This year I’ll be participating in National Haiku Writing Month (NaHaiWriMo) again, but with added National Poetry Writing Month (NaPoWriMo) goodness. NaPoWriMo is actually in April, though, so ignore my poor timing and just be impressed by DoUbLe ThE ChAlLeNgE!
Each day I’ll be posting a haiku or senryu for NaHaiWriMo, with the occasional short poem to go along with it. As haiku are season based (and, let’s face it, doing the same challenge at the same time each year doesn’t lend itself to much seasonal variety), I want to give myself room to move and do other styles when the mood strikes. As the entire point of the challenge is to spark creativity I do not see this as a problem.
So, sorry about the sudden influx of posts in your email inbox and I hope you enjoy! This is Day 1, so watch out for the first poem right around the corner. ^_^
